A Little Music

While some people leave their hearts in San Francisco, I seem to have left my brain in Austin. My body is here and I am doing the things I need to do (work and family stuff) but the Fresh Idea part of my brain may still be in my bunk in Horseshoe Bay.

I do my best thinking in the shower and stayed in the shower way too long today trying to think of something to write about. Now, I look like a prune and still don't know what to write. So, rather than bore you with this external processing of my inability to write, I thought I'd direct you to some new music.

Brandi Carlile has a new album coming out next year and just released the first song from it. Confession: I'm not all in on Brandi. There are a handful of her songs that I love but more that I don't care much about at all.  And this might be an unpopular opinion but I don't always appreciate the way her voice breaks. Still, this new one has stuck with me. The string arrangement and melody move me as much as the lyrics do.

You can read more about the upcoming album and this song at Rolling Stone but check out the video below.
