This Day

The weather is perfect. The air is crisp and carries the smell of fall right in through the open car windows. The sun is so bright that I have to squint but I don't mind because I've been tricked into thinking that I have never seen sunlight so bright or a sky so blue. Most of the leaves have fallen from the trees and they cover the ground in vibrant yellow which reflects the sun just so. I drive across the river and the wind against my face feels like a hopeful embrace. These are the kind of days that make me happy to be grown-up, when driving feels more like a blessing than a curse. I am alone with music and a day that seems impossibly right. This day makes me want to be a better person, makes me want to live larger. This day makes me want to truly live.
