English is Tricky

One time, Luisa and I were in an intense discussion about a Very Important Issue. The issue was very important but I can't remember what it was. I simply remember that right smack dab in the middle of the conversation Luisa said, "Vikki...you are making a mountain out of a mo-hill". I paused. I wasn't sure that I had heard her correctly so I said, "Pardon me? What did you say!" She repeated herself with emphasis, "I said you are making a mountain out of a MO-HILL!" I burst into laughter and managed to squeak, "And what is a mo-hill?" She said, "I don't know...it's just an expression". I continued laughing but somehow managed to point out that the expression actually involves mountains and mole hills. Even Luisa had to admit that it made more sense that way.
