We Are the NaBloPoMo Champions

We are the NaBloPoMo champions my friends...and we'll keep on blogging 'til the end. Everybody join in now!

We are the champions! We are the champions! No time for losers 'cause we are the champions...(wait for it)...of the world!

We did it! We finished NaBloPoMo! And by "we" I mean "me" of course because, really, what did you do?

I'm kidding! You helped with your reading and your commenting and your sharing of links and by coming to my house to make me cookies and cocktails (but not together because - ew)!

Actually, none of you made me cookies or cocktails but that's okay because I believe that you might have made them for me in your heart. If you didn't even do that, don't tell me. Let me live in my fantasy world.

So what do champions get when they complete NaBloPoMo?

Nothing!

Best fake fight victory ever, right?

As a token of my esteem, however, I am offering you this picture of me because this is basically what I looked like all month as I toiled away behind the screen. Paint spattered sweat pants, oversized hoodie, bed head (covered for the picture) with iPhone always at hand. (Not Pictured: Coffee and Espresso)

Blogging is glamorous, isn't it?

In all seriousness, I do want to thank all of you who checked back here throughout the month. The comments were always kind and encouraging and I appreciated every single one of them.

Before I sign off, I want to point you to the local site for Listen to Your Mother. It's LIVE! Spread the word and there will be more updates as the production gets rolling.

Now, I am going to go do something that doesn't involve blogging - a little something I like to call "Get the jalapeño juice off my hands before I touch my eye again!"

Until next time...

Can We Just Recap?

This was my first week of freedom and it was quite eventful - volunteering, the launch of Lesbian Family, the election, the announcement about Listen to Your Mother and many great conversations. Oh...and I took the kids to the Roller Garden, bet all my money on skeeball and walked away with a pirate eye patch. Clearly, I am living the dream. Today, I'm tired and don't have many words. There are a few things that I wanted to call attention to, however, in case you missed them in the flurry of activity around here.

1. I wrote a Seussian goodbye to social work over at Aiming Low and am pretty darn proud of it. How often does someone work bed bugs and pee into a rhyming work? Truffula trees for all who read!

2. I wrote about the election results a little bit here on this ol' blog but had more thoughts to share over at Lesbian Family. That post is more of an exploration of my feelings over the course of the whole battle. Feelings...nothing more than feelings.

3. So, I got an e-mail a week or so ago from Jessica Watson who told me that she wanted to include me on a list of inspirational bloggers she was doing for SheKnows. How cool is that? Pretty darn cool! So, go check out the Top 10 Inspirational Bloggers. I feel so honored to have been included.

That's all I've got for you today. I spent all day at a martial arts tournament and every "HI-YA!" shouted by that roomful of children was like a karate chop to the brain. So, I'm going to sit back and make sweet, sweet love to a glass of ice water and enjoy a little quiet. I'll be back tomorrow with...well...I haven't quite figured that out yet.

Listen to Your Mother - Twin Cities

I am so excited to announce that I am part of the team that will be bringing Listen to Your Mother to the Twin Cities in May of 2013! I have known for a few weeks and it has been killing me to keep it quiet. For those who don't know what LTYM is, I took the following from the website:

LTYM is a national series of live readings by local writers in celebration of Mother's Day. Born of the creative work of mothers who publish online, each production is directed, produced and performed by local communities for local communities.

You should head to the main site for more information and, in the days and weeks to come, more information about the show right here in the Twin Cities while appear on the site.

I'd like to give a shout out to the local team and link to their blogs because they are an incredible trio of women who are all very good with The Words:

Heather King

Tracy Morrison

and

Galit Breen

I had the pleasure of having lunch with all three last weekend and they are all compassionate, smart, funny women - my favorite kind.

I would also like to thank the creator of LTYM, Ann Imig, for trusting us with her baby.

So, I will be sharing lots of LTYM-related things with you in the coming months as we create the first ever show here in the Twin Cities.

Sidenote (or bottom note really, can't call this a footnote exactly): I would like you to know that it took a lot of restraint for me to not fill this entire post with superlatives and exclamation points. Instead, I created a new category for things like this called "Exciting things!" and only used one exclamation point (excluding the one in the category). One. Pretty good for something this exciting. I think I earned a cookie, don't you?
